Close to the city centre and within walking distance of a wealth of everyday facilities, Holmwood is a small, comfortable home principally designed for people who are able to enjoy a fair degree of independence but who welcome the reassurance of expert help on hand if ever the need arises.
Both the lounge and dining room overlook the charming garden, where a sunny patio is the perfect place to relax with afternoon tea on a balmy summer day. From the garden too, there’s a view of Salisbury cathedral, just a short walk away.
15 of the 20 bedrooms have their own en-suite facilities, while on the ground floor, there’s a well-equipped kitchen for residents to prepare drinks and snack for themselves and their visitors alike.
“My father spent the last two years of his life here, living with advancing Parkinson’s Disease and eventually with a terminal diagnosis of lung cancer. He was very well cared for, though his health needs were very complex. His preferences and choices were always respected despite often being quite eccentric, and even at times demanding. The staff team built up a phenomenal relationship with him and us as family members. They supported him to stay at the home to die, as he wished. They were kind, courageous and very skilful in their caring role.
We want to put on record that the care our father received in the final months was tremendous. The team were amazing. They were also so kind and thoughtful to us as family members, helping us to think ahead and make decisions so that we were well prepared. Nothing was too much trouble and they ensured that he died as he wished, in his own room with all the support her needed to be safe and comfortable. I have the highest regard for their commitment and expertise.”Daughter of a Resident at Holmwood
“Thank you for my greetings, presents and along with my beautiful birthday cake. It was much appreciated.”Resident of Holmwood
“Thank you for looking after my friend and myself when we came to visit. The meal of roast beef was top class and was most welcome considering we got lost and turned up one and half hours later than anticipated.” Friend of a Resident at Holmwood
“All of the staff are wonderful. They have a very difficult job and do it with love and kindness being shown to every resident. At times, their patience is pushed to the limit, but they rise above it and carry on. You should be proud of them all.”Daughter of resident.
“Thank you for all your care and kindness shown to me and mummy throughout the years.”Daughter of Resident.
